Views sought on Whittle-le-Woods new homes proposal
Local residents are invited to comment on plans for new homes in Whittle-le-Woods, Chorley.
Developer Redrow Homes is holding a public consultation event at Whittle-le-Woods Village Hall in Union Street on Friday, October 21, for local people to view plans of the proposed development on land to the north and west of Lucas Lane.
The land is a draft housing allocation in Chorley Council’s emerging Site Allocations Development Plan Document and the council have previously reserved the land for future development.
Robin Buckley, senior planning manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire) says: “We’re looking to submit an outline planning application for up to 150 homes, but are keen to take account of the views of local people before finalising our masterplan’’.
“Our draft masterplan shows mostly four-bedroom detached family homes from our New Heritage Collection, plus an element of two and three-bedroom mews-style homes and apartments. We’ll also be creating new footpaths and cycleways plus open space for casual recreation, while retaining existing wildlife habitats.
“Existing landscape features including an existing footpath, trees, hedgerows, ponds, ditches and streams would be sensitively integrated into the design.”
Redrow is well known in the area and has its Lancashire division headquarters at Buckshaw Village. The award-winning developer has previously built new homes in Whittle-le-Woods and is currently selling properties at Buckshaw Village and Sandhurst Gardens in Chorley.
The public consultation event will take place from noon until 8pm on Friday, October 21. Local residents and interested parties will have the opportunity to view plans and ask questions of Redrow staff.
