Top reliability award for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

9th November 2011 Print

The tough and trusty Sprinter from Mercedes-Benz has claimed the coveted top spot in this year’s van category in the Fleet News FN50 Reliability Survey.

Steve Bridge, Van Sales and Marketing Director for Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “We are delighted with the results of the FN50.

“Sprinter is a firm fleet favourite with many managers, and these results demonstrate exactly why. We understand the need of businesses to keep our vans on the road as much as possible and avoid any downtime which could lead to lost revenue for a company.

“We are committed to ensuring that our vans prove to be dependable, reliable and desirable, and we will continue to strive hard to achieve this.”

As part of this pledge, Mercedes-Benz continues to make big improvements to the economy of its vehicles. For example, the latest 313CDI Sprinter is 15 per cent more fuel efficient than the 311CDI it replaced, equating to an extra 4.5 miles per gallon, while CO2 emissions are down by 13 per cent.

Stephen Briers, Editor of Fleet News, added: “As the quality of vehicles continually improves, competition becomes increasingly tough to single out the best performers. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has always had a reputation for strength and durability and its top placing in the FN50 van reliability survey shows this impression is well deserved."

The FN50 survey is the most comprehensive undertaken in terms of the number of vehicles involved, with more than a million included each year. As part of the poll, the 50 largest contract hire and leasing companies in the UK are asked to rank vehicles for reliability using a points system.
