The Halkin launches William Curley's 'Couture Chocolate Afternoon Tea'

9th November 2011 Print

This November The Halkin launches William Curley’s ‘Couture Chocolate Afternoon Tea’. The concept has been created exclusively by William Curley, the four-time winner of ‘Britain’s Best Chocolatier’ in collaboration with The Halkin as part of the hotel’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

The Halkin is internationally recognised as one of London’s most stylish hotels with an intimate ‘home from home’ ambience. Located in the heart of Belgravia, close to the famous shopping destinations of Knightsbridge and Sloane Street, it also houses the renowned Thai restaurant nahm started by David Thompson with Executive Chef Matthew Albert now at the helm.  Indeed, when first opened in 1991, The Halkin redefined London’s boutique hotel market. Twenty years on and the hotel gives the traditional afternoon tea a new twist in both what’s on the menu and the elegant environs in which this very English institution can be enjoyed by residents and non-residents alike.

Guests will be able to combine culture with chocolate, as The Halkin Bar has been transformed into a pop-up ‘Culture Lounge’ by luxury publishers, ASSOULINE. The ground floor space showcases some of the most iconic coffee-table books which guests can browse in a library-style environment whilst enjoying William’s delicacies.

In addition to that great English teatime classic comprised of freshly-made scones with clotted cream and jams and a selection of sandwiches, guests can choose from William Curley’s à la carte selection, which includes the following stand-out delicacies:
Chocolate Financier with Passion fruit Curd: Moist chocolate cake centred with mango compote and topped with passion fruit curd

Orange and Chocolate Sacher: Layers of almond sponge, chocolate mousse and orange marmalade

Sea Salt Caramel and Raspberry Tart: Crisp hazelnut tart, filled with sea salt caramel, raspberry dacquoise and compote and topped with a rich chocolate cremeaux

Black Forest Dome: Dark chocolate and white chocolate mousses, kirsch-soaked sponge and a cherry compote

Chocolate Macaroon: Soft chocolate macaroon filled with a Toscano chocolate ganache

Priced from £37.50 per person, the tea will be available daily from the 22nd November between 3pm and 6pm daily. A Champagne afternoon tea will be available for £47.50.
