Gavin Stephens had spent months trying to find a solution to his renting problems when he discover his dream home just a few miles down the road from his apartment in Sunderland.

It was when Gavin visited Taylor Wimpey’s Clarence Court development and took advantage of the housebuilder’s shared equity scheme that his renting problems disappeared.

The simple scheme enabled Gavin, a meat and seafood trader, to not only get onto the property ladder but also upgrade from renting a three bedroom apartment to owning a four bedroom detached property, leaving him to enjoy his new home with his two sons, Jake, aged eight, and Alfie, aged two.

Using the Easystart shared equity initiative means buyers can own 100 per cent of their property from day one – but pay just 85 per cent now.

Gavin commented: “I had been looking into a rent to buy scheme until I met Christine at Taylor Wimpey who showed me that my mortgage would be cheaper than renting. Christine was fantastic from the start. She helped move into my property after less than a month of visiting the site.

“Taylor Wimpey’s Easystart scheme took the stress out of finding a new home and allowed me to focus on packing up my stuff and start thinking about decorating the new home for my family.”
