Tesco Cars named ‘Car Supermarket of the Year’

TescoCars.com has been named ‘Car Supermarket of the Year’ at the annual Car Dealer Ewards. Winning ‘head and shoulders’ over its competition, Tesco Cars was marked out by the judging panel as a ‘business to watch.’

The Ewards judges said; ‘The Tesco site is fast, clean and offers the user plenty of information. We particularly liked the ability to order vehicles online. All this combined with loads of stock and one of the strongest brands in the country makes the site a real winner.’

The judges added; ‘Tesco has entered the online arena not using their vast cash reserves to build the ultimate dealership but rather through developing a customer-focused website that utilises the trust of their brand to allow them to learn automotive retailing. This is one business to watch.’

Douglas Rotberg, Managing Director of Tesco Cars, commented; ‘We thank the Car Dealer judges for this recognition. An award like this, less than a year after the business was launched, is welcome approval that we are making good decisions in our approaches to a used car buying channel. Tesco Cars is built on trust, choice, value and customer service. We are using those fundamentals, together with the technology available to us, to create a positive and enjoyable car buying experience. We’re proving that consumers can sell a car to themselves if they’re given the right information and the right environment to browse in. Tesco Cars has a responsibility to both the brand and the customer –it’s been an invigorating challenge to fulfil those high expectations all round.’

Since its launch in April 2011, tescocars.com has received over 1,500,000 unique visitors. In part thanks to a friendly, no-pressure shopping environment and a healthy mix of feminine and family-orientated vehicles, the site has proved a popular destination with female car buyers. Over a third of enquiries are from women buying independently – one of the highest shares in the industry.
