Redrow is honouring the mother of the Bronte sisters, by naming its latest venture in West Yorkshire in her memory.

The award-winning housebuilder owns an eight acre site off Netherfield Road in Guiseley, where it plans to build 96 homes from its sought-after New Heritage Collection.

The development will be known as Branwell Park, after Maria Branwell, mother of the novelists Anne, Charlotte and Emily Bronte.

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), commented: “At Redrow we are keen to acknowledge the history of the communities in which we build and wherever possible link the names of our developments to the area. Maria Branwell married Rev Patrick Bronte at St Oswald’s Church in Guiseley and given that three of their children are literary greats we wanted to honour the family in this way.”

Home buyers are being urged to register their interest in the, three and four-bedroom homes at Branwell Park, which is due to launch in February.

Guide prices for the homes are from £239,999.

Residents of the homes will be able to travel free on buses and trains in West Yorkshire for a year as one free MetroCard per household forms part of a package of community benefits negotiated with Leeds City Council.

The travel card will be provided free for the first year and discounted in years two and three.

“Branwell Park is just a short walk from Guiseley train station and with the free and discounted MetroCards residents will be encouraged to let the train take the strain. They could enjoy a free commute to Leeds city centre in the time it takes them to drink their morning cup of coffee,” Patsy added.

Inspired by the architecture of the Arts and Crafts era, the homes at Branwell Park will ooze the character of older, ‘period’ homes, with features such as dropped eaves, projecting plinths, timber or tiled canopies over doors and windows, supported by decorative gallows brackets, and the use of larch lap boarding as a feature.

But behind the traditional exteriors the homes will be bright, modern and full of family friendly features. Open plan layouts put well equipped kitchens at the heart of the home. Practical yet stylish those kitchens boast integrated top brand name appliances including microwave, oven and fridge freezer plus tall cabinets and extra wide drawers that offer plenty of storage. Upstairs family bathrooms and en-suites will enjoy quality fixtures and fittings, with a tile range exclusive to Redrow.
