Lexus has beaten its previous full-year sales record – in just nine months. The fast growing luxury brand roared past its previous 12 month record of 11,335 – set in 2001 – before the end of a record September.

In creating the LS 600h, Lexus set out to create a car that delivers the highest standards of performance, design, safety and efficiency. Combining these qualities usually demands a degree of compromise, for example, more power means higher fuel consumption, but thanks to the innovative engineering and advanced hybrid power technology deployed by Lexus, the LS 600h defines new standards in the luxury segment.

Lexus is pushing the boundaries of passenger and pedestrian protection with the introduction of world-leading preventive safety technology in its new LS 460 flagship limousine.

The LS 600h combines a 5.0-litre V8 engine with a hybrid powertrain – hence the ‘h’ suffix – enabling it to comfortably match the performance of even larger capacity normally-aspirated V12 engines. It will make its European debut on the Lexus stand at the Paris Motor Show on 28 September, presented both in standard and long-wheelbase form. The LS 600h L is 12cm longer overall, providing passengers with even more space and additional comfort features, such as reclining rear seats with built-in massage functions and air conditioning that is controlled according to the body temperature of the people on board.

Following on from the successful trial of the Lexus RX 400h by Hampshire Police in August last year, Wiltshire Constabulary will be the first police force in the country to incorporate the recently launched high performance Lexus GS 450h to their fleet.

World famous for their refinement and comfort, Lexus cars are also proving to be great racing cars. The SC 430 has succeeded the iconic Supra in the Super GT series and the GS 450h petrol-electric hybrid tackled a Le Mans-style 24 hour race.
