Nissan has announced financial results for the fiscal year 2007, ending March 31, 2008, and filed the following results with the Tokyo Stock Exchange:

Nissan has announced that its GT-R supercar achieved a lap time at the infamous Nürburgring in Germany of seven minutes and 29 seconds. Recorded on April 16 and 17, the GT-R used was a base specification car and fitted with the standard Japanese market tyres. Driven by GT-R chief test driver Tochio Suzuki, this latest lap time beats the previous fastest time for the GT-R by nine seconds.

Nissan announced that global sales of its CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) equipped vehicles topped one million with sales of 1,088,000 in fiscal year 2007, accomplishing the target set under the Nissan Green Program 2010 mid-term environmental plan.

March saw Nissan powering ahead in the fleet market, capturing 8,636 car sales – up an impressive 86 per cent over 2007 – and underpinning a great first three months in which fleet sales have increased by 46 per cent to total 12,759 units.

Nissan’s year has got off to a storming start, with sales of cars and light commercial vehicles during the first three months of 2008 up 36 per cent.

The Nissan GT-R official order book opened for business on 2 April 2008 and within the first 48 hours nearly 700 customer deposits were received for pre-order reservations.
