The Russian grocery chain X5 Retail Group has ordered 146 Scania distribution trucks for supplying goods to its nationwide stores and supermarkets. Last year Scania delivered 144 trucks to the group.
Scania is establishing an industrial facility in Dubai for bodybuilding and equipping complete vehicles.
Scania will supply a total of 50 tourist coaches to Veolia Transport for use during the European Football Championship in June 2008. They will transport VIP guests invited by the participating national football associations.
The Danish dairy products group Arla Foods has ordered 193 trucks from Scania, including both tractor units and distribution trucks for its operations in Sweden, Denmark and the United Kingdom.
Scania has received its largest bus and coach order to date in Asia, selling 500 city buses to the leading public transport company SBS Transit in Singapore.
Scania's new engines has already been certified for the demanding Japanese NLT standard. The new engines pave the way for fulfilment of forthcoming emission requirements during the next decade. They also meet the Japanese fuel economy standard that makes operators entitled to a 2 percent tax reduction.
Scania plans to establish industrial operations in Russia. Initially, an assembly plant with an annual capacity of 10,000 vehicles per shift is being planned. Discussions with Russian authorities regarding location will be initiated.
Scania has reached an agreement with Cimpomóvel Veículos Pesados, S.A. to acquire its truck and bus distribution system in Portugal from April this year. The transaction covers a nationwide sales and service network, encompassing six wholly owned dealerships. These operations have 250 employees.
The lowest whole-life costs backed by the highest levels of aftersales service have led to transport, storage and logistics specialist Eddie Stobart Limited selecting Scania as its preferred fleet truck for 2007. Consequently, in excess of 500 vehicles have now been specified with deliveries beginning in March at a rate of approximately 42 per month.
