Nationwide promises to refund the difference on home insurance

Nationwide Building Society will launch a Refund the Difference home insurance promotion from Monday 14 January.

For customers switching to Nationwide, the Society will beat whatever customers paid for their home insurance last year, or refund the difference up to £100 (cover must be on an equivalent basis to Nationwide home insurance)*.

The offer is available from Monday 14 January to Friday 4 April 2008.

Nationwide’s promotion also includes:

20% discount if buildings and contents insurance are purchased together (30% if purchased online);
12.5% discount if purchasing buildings or contents insurance online.

Key features of Nationwide’s home insurance include:

Unlimited buildings cover for eligible properties;
Up to £1,000 cover for contents in the garden;
Cover for accidental damage to home entertainment equipment;
Cover for MP3 players and music downloads;
Up to £500 cover for the contents of the fridge and freezer;
No extra charge for paying monthly by Direct Debit;
Cover for students’ belongings while at university or college (up to sum insured);

Nationwide also offers a range of optional extras for those customers wishing to tailor their home insurance to suit their individual needs:

24 hour Home Emergency Assistance for only £4 a month;
Up to £50,000 Legal Assistance for just £1.25 per month.

Nationwide’s insurance director, Robin Bailey, says: “This is a genuine offer to beat what customers paid last year for their home insurance. If we are unable to do so, then we promise to refund the difference up to £100. By opting for Nationwide’s home insurance, customers can be sure that they are benefiting from excellent customer care and better cover as standard.”

*Cover on an equivalent basis which means the address is the same, the type of cover is the same and the voluntary excess is the same, or no lower, on the new Nationwide policy. Customers must be claim-free for the past 12 months and must be switching to Nationwide.
