American Express drives launch of BMW and Mini credit cards
5 June 2006
American Express has partnered with BMW to launch two co-branded products – the BMW Card from American Express and the MINI Card by American Express – Credit Cards designed with BMW and MINI drivers in mind.
Available from the end of May 2006, the two co-brand Credit Cards will each offer a customised rewards programme, providing MINI and BMW drivers with the opportunity to win experiences and products which reflect their passion for the cars. The Cards carry no annual fee, offer a competitive typical 9.9%APR (variable), as well as a package of Card benefits, including purchase and online fraud protection.
The loyalty rewards programmes - BMW Rewards and Rewards by MINI - provide automatic access to a monthly free prize draw. A minimum of 50 prizes will be available each month. Prizes from BMW Financial Services include an opportunity to drive the new BMW 3 Series Coupé back from the European press launch, a VIP trip to the Italian Grand Prix and a VIP trip to the Leipzig BMW plant. Money by MINI prizes include a luxury visit to Los Angeles and a trip to the world-famous Ice Hotel in Lapland. Other smaller prizes include BMW and MINI watches, branded wallets, luggage and T-shirts.
New Card members will automatically receive 10 entries for the following month’s draw. Card members will then earn one draw entry for every £10 spent, with two entries for every £10 spent at petrol stations and three entries for every £10 spent at BMW or MINI dealerships.
As you’d expect from two of the world’s most prestigious brands, both Cards have a stylish, classic design. The MINI Card is available in three different models to reflect way the car can be personalised by the owners.
Kate Harris, Vice President of UK Partnerships at American Express, said: “The MINI and BMW Credit Cards from American Express put Cardmembers in the driving seat – quite literally. The customised rewards schemes, which offer extra entries for spending on petrol for example, mean these are the Cards of choice for those who feel a connection to MINI and BMW.”
Keith Dye, CEO, BMW Financial Services GB Limited, said: “BMW and MINI customers are used to high levels of performance and customer service. We chose American Express as we wanted a partner with a reputation for providing those same levels of service. From product trials in the UK we believe that the Cards will be an attractive proposition to people loyal to the BMW and MINI brands.”
