Edinburgh – The scariest place on earth?

24th October 2007 Print
The city of Edinburgh has just been voted as one of the world’s scariest cities, following a survey carried out by online leading travel and leisure retailer lastminute.com.

With Halloween just around the corner, lastminute.com polled more than 1000 customers to unveil the scariest place on earth.

With three of its major attractions claimed as favourites amongst the fright seekers, the Edinburgh Vaults, the Ghost Tour and the Edinburgh Dungeon, the Scottish capital is the ghostliest city as voted for by lastminute.com’s customers.

Edinburgh is certainly not the only place in the UK that got the vote. Blackpool’s “Pasaje del Terror” attraction makes the spine chill, The Wax Museum on the Isle of Wight turns the public white as ghost, the London Dungeons, the High Wycombe Caves, Madame Tussaud’s and Hangman’s Hill in Essex were all firm favourites.

Around the globe, other scary places includes the old favourite Dracula’s homeland, Transylvania (Romania), the Witches caldron Salem (USA), the Hellfire club (Dublin), the Haunted House and Skull Kingdom (Florida), The Pyramids of Gizeh (Egypt) and the ghosts of the Serengeti (Kenya).
