Rome plays host to the Festival of Music and Sacred Art

8th October 2008 Print
The Festival of Music and Sacred Art in Rome aims at presenting the Foundation’s institutional activities which are the restoration of precious works of religious art housed in the patriarchal Roman basilicas where the concerts take place.

Whoever shares in this can take part in the Foundation’s initiatives, and in so doing, contributes to the preservation of sacred music and religious art in places of worship. All supporters and benefactors are allowed to participate in the events organized by the Foundation, and thus also receive an invitation to the Festival.

The entrance into all the concerts will be free as they take place in churches and basilicas, however the foundation is glad to reserve the best seats to all people giving a donation with the aim of supporting its activities. In 2008 there are a range of donations or contributions available and further details will be provided on request.

Part One commences on the 12th and the 13th October starting off at the Basilica of St John Lateran and presenting Johann Sebastian Bach, The Art of Fugue BWV 1080 in the version of Hans-Eberhard Dentler and ending on the Monday at the Basilica of St Paul Outside the walls with Anton Bruckner Symphony number 6 with the Vienna Philharmonic.

Part Two starts again on the 17th November with a week of music and Part Three on the 26th November at the Basilica of St Peter in the Vatican with holy mass celebrated by his eminence Angelo Cardinal Comastri.
