New London van guide to ease parking woes

22nd May 2007 Print
The Freight Transport Association is delighted to be leading the way on tackling parking problems with the launch of the new London Van Guide. Developed by PIE Enterprises in partnership with FTA and Transport for London's Freight Unit, the guide provides detailed information about parking restrictions on London's streets as well as highlighting PCN hotspots and other useful information.

Key sections of the guide set out up-to-date information about parking rules and regulations as well as more information about safe driving and tips on fuel efficiency. The information in the guide is relevant to all commercial users, not just vans, and is an essential tool for regular London drivers and occasional visitors alike.

Gordon Telling, FTA's Head of Policy for London, South East and East of England said, 'We are all aware of the increasing burden that parking costs are putting on businesses' bottom line. Whilst there are lots of issues that we are working on with local councils to improve the supply of spaces and fairness of tickets, there is still a need to help drivers who are unfamiliar with parking locations and who get penalised for not having good local knowledge. This guide helps to put that information into drivers' hands and helps to avoid unnecessary charges for operators and their customers.

The guide costs £9.99 and is available from shop.fta.co.uk.
