Facelift for the Barratt iPad at Parkside Gardens
2 October 2007
When you’ve got one of the best selling products in the housing market there’s no denying it will be visited by one and all — which is exactly what has been happening at Barratt’s iPad show apartment in Middlesbrough.
But a daily procession of visitors around any popular location be it Windsor Castle or a 381 sq ft iPad starter home can take its toll on the furnishings and décor. Thankfully for Barratt the iPad is somewhat cheaper to refurbish than a Royal residence!
Using furnishings and fabric that first time buyers can easily lay their hands on Barratt’s interior design Gillian Keddy has given the iPad show apartment at Parkside Gardens in the town a complete facelift.
In the light and airy lounge red accessories and curtains and white sofas are the dominant colours (which will probably go down well with Middlesbrough football club supporters!), while the coffee and occasional tables are in glass reflecting the natural light from the floor to ceiling patio doors which open out on to a balcony area. The kitchen, which is separated from the lounge by a breakfast bar/work table, also has white units with chrome door furniture and dark wood worktops.
The colour scheme extends through into the double bedroom with red and black soft furnishings and accessories contrasting superbly with the mainly neutral wallcoverings and carpets. The bed head wall has a black and silver horizontal stripe which provides an effective backdrop for the shiny chrome bedside tables.
The full-size bathroom offers the perfect place to chill out and relax in. Warm beech wood is set against contrasting horizontal striped wallpaper with complete wall tiling around the bath with overhead shower. A chrome heated towel rail and white bathroom suite complete the picture.
The Barratt iPad – originally built as a concept starter home at Parkside Gardens has now been rolled out across the whole country with outstanding popularity.
The apartment is designed to help bridge the growing affordability gap for increasing numbers of first-time buyers around the country struggling to take their first step on the home ownership ladder.
Such has been the success at Parkside Gardens the housebuilder has launched another 36 on the same development at prices from £91,000 and available to move into this autumn.
Parkside Gardens in well located just ten minutes from the town centre. The development offers easy access to the A19 and the A66 for commuting to Darlington, Sunderland, York, Newcastle and Durham. The sales office is open every day from 11am to 6pm.
