First-time buyers save with Barratt
19 November 2007

First-time buyers can take advantage of a savings scheme with a difference at Barratt’s Hardwick Green development in Stockton. The housebuilder’s popular Deposit Savings Scheme will match buyers pound for pound on their deposit up to 5 per cent of the cost of the property and represents a tremendous saving for first-time buyers.

As well as this, the deposit amount is paid weekly over the time left until completion, so not only does this scheme have the potential to halve the total deposit payable, it also allows first time buyers to spread the payment over time.

As Barratt Newcastle Sales Manager Steve Mariner explained: “Being a first-time buyer in today's current housing market isn't easy. Quite often we have people combining their incomes just to get on to the property ladder, which is why we are offering such substantial help with the deposit so that our buyers can move in to their perfect home and save a bit of money into the bargain.

"Brand new homes are ideal for first time buyers because everything necessary for starting your new home is included.”

"A well-designed fitted kitchen with oven, hob and extractor hood, quality bathroom suites, double glazing and central heating all come as standard in a brand new Barratt home, which means all that buyers have to do is bring their furniture and move in”.

"The other advantage to buying Barratt, of course, is that once you are on the property ladder you can keep on climbing with us and we will give you a loyalty discount on the way."

Among the properties available with the Deposit Savings Scheme is Barratt’s 2 bedroom Washington design priced at £107,995. The scheme represents a substantial saving to the first-time buyer and enables them to reserve a plot well in advance of the build programme at a pre-construction price.

The well-designed Washington is an ideal first home, offering an entrance hallway, fitted kitchen, open-plan living room with dining area and French doors into a private back garden. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a bathroom.

Properties also currently available on the latest sales release at Hardwick Green include 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes priced from £107,995 to £193,995.

Hardwick Green is a £90 million regeneration scheme, which Barratt is building in partnership with Haslam Homes, Stockton Borough Council, Endeavour Housing Association, TriStar Homes Ltd and local residents.

Transformation of this area includes 700 new homes, an Extra Care Scheme for the elderly and frail, a £4m state-of-the-art primary school, refurbishment of retained Council owned homes, environmental and leisure improvements plus jobs for the local community.

The sales office is due to open on site in December. In the meantime, buyers can get further information by visiting Barratthomes.co.uk.
