Landscaped gardens with a designer twist Buyers looking for a property with a truly unique and exclusive added extra are being tempted by four townhouses at Torre Marine which each boast a one-off and soon to be famous garden.

Barratt's flagship development in Torquay, Torre Marine recently played host to ITV Westcountry's ‘Garden Designer of the Year' competition and the rear gardens of four townhouses were the ‘blank canvas' for four contestants - all local to the west country.

"The landscaped gardens are simply out of this world," said Mary Daymond, Barratt sales manager.

"These townhouses are now up for grabs, with everything in the fully landscaped gardens included in the price - as well as free carpets and curtains - and start at £249,950 for the four bedroom home and for a limited period has a discount of £25,000."

Each contestant was given a capped budget and three days to design and build their garden, which had to include features such as an al fresco eating space, a compost area for garden and kitchen waste, a children's play area and plants that would provide privacy and year round interest.

The two winners of the TV competition, presented by Melinda Messenger and currently showing on ITV West and West Country regions, will win the chance to create an eco-friendly front garden at the famous Eden Project in Cornwall

"These properties are already attracting lots of interest - but the chance to own a one-of-a-kind garden with everything in it included is definitely creating a buzz. It's a real talking point - having a garden that has been featured on television and has a story behind it," added Mary.

The ‘Garden Designer of the Year' show features the Eden Project's Tim Smit, TV newcomer Scott Evans from the Big Grass Nursery in Devon and Chelsea award-winning garden designer Richard Sneesby.

Torre Marine is set in landscaped communal grounds with dedicated parking areas for residents, and offers a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes. Current availability includes a new release of one bedroom apartments under the English Partnerships scheme which enables first time buyers and key workers to buy from just £63,000.

The development is part of the regeneration of Torquay, and lies close to the sea front and the town centre. It is also within easy reach of the many attractions to be found in Tor Bay, and the A385 and A38 offer easy access to Plymouth, Newton Abbot and Exeter.
