Baxi extends Solarflo range with evacuated tubes

Baxi extends Solarflo range with evacuated tubes Baxi has extended its renewable energy range to include evacuated tube solar collectors as part of its Baxi Solarflo offering.

The Baxi Solarflo range uses the free energy provided by the sun to heat solar collectors on the roof to provide domestic hot water.

The new Solarflo evacuated tube collectors are ideal for installation on existing buildings as the manifold tubes sit on top of pitched roof tiles. Unlike Baxi’s flat solar panel collectors, evacuated tube collectors can also be installed on flat roofs with an A frame or on a building façade.

On average, Baxi’s Solarflo systems will generate between 50 and 60 per cent of a home’s annual domestic hot water requirement and can reduce hot water heating costs by as much as 60 per cent annually.1

During the summer months, up to 100 per cent of hot water can be provided by the solar system and even in the winter there can be some heat generated, with the remainder being provided either by a conventional boiler or electric immersion heater.

Typically, a home with a family of four will need two solar collector panels or a thirty evacuated tube collector.

Dr Elaine Ball, New Technology Director at Baxi says: “Renewable energy such as solar has a very low environmental impact and can reduce carbon emissions by around 400kg per year, depending on the fuel replaced.

“Properties using solar energy to generate hot water will also receive higher ratings when undergoing assessments for Energy Performance Certificates.

“However, it is vital that the right hot water heating solution is chosen for each application and that systems are installed by qualified professionals to ensure that the property can support the system and it can perform to its optimum capability and efficiency. Consumers will pay just 5 per cent VAT on Baxi Solarflo applications when it is fitted by a qualified installer.

Compatible with existing UK heating systems, Baxi Solarflo evacuated tubes are available in 20 or 30 tube sets, depending on the size of the property, come with up to ten years transferable warranty2 and are easy to install with a tool-free absorber connection and individual collector tubes reducing lift weight. The Copper absorbers used on the collectors are resistant to thermal shocks.

Dr Elaine Ball concludes: “Baxi has been at the forefront of heating technology for over 150 years and is dedicated to innovation. The company is always looking at new ways to heat homes in ways that will utilise renewable sources of energy and play a part in protecting the planet.”

Baxi’s range of energy efficient products are available throughout the UK from heating merchants, and the company recommends that its products are always installed by a qualified professional heating installer. In addition to Baxi Solarflo Baxi has one of the largest ranged of renewable products available including Biomass, Micro CHP, Ground source heat pumps and Air source heat pumps.
