Cooking up a storm at Sundridge Park Celebrity kitchen furniture designer Mark Wilkinson has unveiled his latest masterpiece at Sundridge Park in Bromley, Kent. Renowned for designing kitchens for Gary Rhodes, Anthony Worrell Thompson and Michael Roux, Mark has created the bespoke kitchen which will be featured in all new properties at the Millgate Homes development.

Located near Bromley in Kent, Sundridge Park is a unique development set within the scenic grounds of Sundridge Park mansion house - a Grade I listed building designed by John Nash in 1799. Millgate’s scheme, by architect Robert Adam, comprises 52 new-build apartments and townhouses plus 5 refurbished mews homes within the mansion’s former coach house, itself Grade II listed.

For such an impressive scheme Millgate set about a sourcing a selection of quality interior specialists to suit. Mark Wilkinson placed an emphasis on traditional design with quality materials and strong craftsmanship, and so were the ideal choice to create a kitchen range which would suit the impressive historical setting of the development.

Mark Wilkinson embarked on creating new concepts for kitchen furniture in 1976 and from there has dramatically altered the role of kitchen design in the modern home. His ‘Country Living Style’ of design has since become distinctive throughout the world and the company has gone from strength to strength. Mark Wilkinson’s kitchens are exemplified by the quality of hand finished work and the care and time that is put into each item.

On his designs for Sundridge Park, Mark Wilkinson commented: “The kitchen is a vital part of a modern home and in this case I needed to create a style with a classic timelessness that would be in empathy with the period designs of the mansion and coach house and also would suit the wide variety of tastes of the potential occupants. These are likely to be demanding people with a strong sense of individuality”.

The Mark Wilkinson kitchens at Sundridge Park boast quality details and finishes, including; stained Walnut finish, simple door styling, subtle framing and specially designed handle and hinges in polished nickel. To give the kitchen a ‘floating air’, the designer has mirrored the kick-plinth and also produced an over-shelf instead of cornice. This over-shelf carries lighting and is defined with an inset strip of stainless steel.

Alongside the Mark Wilkinson kitchen furniture range, Millgate have integrated a number of high-quality features at Sundridge Park to bring a luxury oasis feel to the development. Purchasers will be able to enjoy an exclusive health spa designed by Syntax – famous for creating the Six Senses resort, awarded best spa resort in the world by Conde Nast traveler. A full-service concierge service will be on hand to serve residents and the development will also include an on-site tennis court and secure underground parking.

Interested purchasers can now view a full show apartment which showcases the Mark Wilkinson kitchen alongside stylish furnishings by interior designers Taylor-Howes, at the Sundridge Park sales suite which is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
