Eco-technology gets thumbs up from homeowners

Eco-technology gets thumbs up from homeowners The innovative ‘green technology’ used in Bryant Homes’ new Kings Walk development in Loose, Maidstone, is supported by an overwhelming 91% of the UK population, a new survey reveals.

Discrete solar roof tiles (photovoltaics) are included on all new three and four-bedroom houses at the 83-home development and the eco-design feature is one of the most sought-after innovations in homebuilding, according to the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT).

Recent CAT research revealed that 91% of the public have considered buying photovoltaics (PV) to produce electricity at home – but just two percent have actually taken the plunge.

That percentage is set to rise as homebuyers move into Kings Walk, where homes boast a wealth of eco-features fitted as standard, including the solar tiles, high levels of insulation, quality double glazing and energy-efficient heating boilers.

All the homes’ 21st Century features are designed to make a significant contribution to the UK’s 2020 renewable energy targets and domestic solar power is seen as one of the most effective solutions for delivering low carbon homes.

The technology can be fully appreciated in the superb ‘Delamere’ townhouse, which offers the ultimate in flexible living across three storeys.

The ground floor features a substantial fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood, a spacious reception room with French doors to the rear garden, a cloakroom, hall and a store, while the first floor is designed with two well-proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The entire top floor of the property is then devoted to a superb master bedroom with ensuite.

Three and four-bedroom terraced townhouses at Kings Walk are available now from £224,995.

Kings Walk is a small development of just 49 homes and 34 apartments in Loose, an established residential area to the south of Maidstone with the open countryside just a short walk away.

Bryant Homes is also building a new sports and community centre with room for a playgroup, local group meetings, a fitness suite, and an outdoor all-weather pitch as part of the scheme.

Kings Walk is just over a mile from Maidstone town centre, and benefits from a choice of good local schools for children of all ages.

The development is close to the new Fremlin Walk shopping centre, Mall Chequers Centre and a choice of supermarkets that have helped put Maidstone among the UK’s top 50 retail towns. Swimming pools, a bowling alley, a multi-screen cinema and theatres mean that there’s also plenty to do during leisure time.

For commuters, the M20 is within easy reach, and the M25 only 25 miles further on, while regular rail services to London run from Maidstone East, and Ashford International offers quick links to the Continent.

Househunters can visit the Kings Walk Marketing Suite, off Melrose Close, Maidstone, from Thursday to Monday from 9.30am to 5pm.
