Linden to take Kingston Mills development forward

25th July 2007 Print
Award-winning housebuilder Linden Homes is championing the sensitive re-development of land it has acquired for development, at the historic Kingston Mills site, in the Wiltshire town of Bradford-on-Avon. A mixed-use scheme has been progressed on the site since 2004, with the assistance of The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment.

The scheme will comprise 162, one and two bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom homes next to Bradford-on-Avon’s ancient stone bridge. Also crucial to the scheme is a range of commercial units, including office space and retail outlets, as well as restaurants and bars.

The way forward…

Toby Ballard, Managing Director of Linden Homes, comments: “Kingston Mills is a tremendous site in a great location. We are delighted to have the opportunity to be bringing the development forward by delivering homes that are sympathetic to the existing architectural vernacular.

“The re-development of Kingston Mills looks set to build upon the reputation of the town as a sought after place to live. Not only does it enjoy a pivotal location, being just 8 miles from Bath but it also benefits from easy access to the University of Bath. The development will see the creation of a mixed-use scheme of new homes, together with employment offices, retail, cafés, restaurants and a building for community use.

“We are really excited about the project, which will help to create a central hub in Bradford-on-Avon for the benefit of both existing and new residents.”

Inspired by heritage…

As part of Linden’s commitment, the company will preserve the architectural heritage of the area, which includes retaining listed buildings at the site. The listed buildings, together with the close proximity to The Hall have also inspired the style of the new homes. This mansion was built by John Hall at the end of the 16th century and is a site of historical heritage, with period details that can be found peppered throughout the historic town.

Location, location…

Bradford-on -Avon exudes charm and boasts many local amenities, including boutiques, shops, cafés, traditional public houses and restaurants. For commuters, the station offers good links to Bristol and historic Bath in approximately 30 minutes and 15 minutes respectively. The town is also close to the M4, which provides links to London, Swindon and Bristol. For international travel Bristol International Airport is just over 27 miles away.

Prices are yet to be released for the scheme. For further information visit the website at Lindenhomes.co.uk.
