Ukash welcomes Safer Internet Day

11th February 2014 Print

Leading online cash payment provider, Ukash, welcomes Safer Internet Day on 11th February 2014. The initiative calls for people to create ‘a better internet together’ and is aimed at carers and teachers, as well as children and young people. Ukash helps consumers make safe and easy purchases online, without the need for a bank account or credit card, making it ideal for young people.

To mark Safer Internet Day, Ukash is offering top tips for young people on staying safe from online scams.

Safer Internet Day is coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, a partnership of three leading organisations; Childnet International, the South West Grid for Learning and the Internet Watch Foundation. It offers young people, teachers and careers advice on cyber bullying, privacy settings on social media and keeping personal information safe online. Ukash offers younger consumers a safe, secure and convenient way to pay online, but it also urges them to be aware of online scammers.

“Safer Internet Day is a great way to raise awareness of the need to help young people stay safe online, whether it’s shopping, socialising or playing games”, said Miranda McLean, Marketing Director, Ukash. “Developed to protect personal identity and financial information when making online transactions, reducing the threat of credit and debit card fraud, Ukash has no age limit, so consumers of all ages can make the most of safe payment online. This makes it a valuable alternative payment method for younger shoppers who want the freedom to buy online. And because it’s a prepaid service, it’s easy to budget, offering parents peace of mind too.

“Cyber criminals are using more and more sophisticated methods to target vulnerable consumers”, added Miranda McLean. “That’s why we advise people to be on the lookout for scams.”
