Waterfront living often comes with a premium price tag, but with Help to Buy available buyers could find that owning a brand new apartment in Lymington is easier to afford.

Research by Knight Frank suggests that waterside properties can command prices 54% higher than their inland counterparts.

The good news for south coast buyers is that they can defer some of that extra cost and still enjoy the benefits of living beside Lymington River and its marinas as Help to Buy equity loans are available on new Redrow homes at Lymington Shores.

To explain more about Help to Buy, Redrow is hosting a special event this weekend (May 31 / June 1).

In simple terms, the scheme offers buyers the chance to reduce the initial cost of homeownership with the aid of an equity loan for up to 20% of the purchase price. And if that wasn’t enough, they should only need a relatively small deposit of around 5%.

Julie Davies, sales manager for Redrow Homes (Southern Counties), says: “People have heard about Help to Buy equity loans but are perhaps not sure if they’re eligible or if the home they want to buy can be purchased using the scheme. ?

“Many would-be homeowners aren’t aware that it’s available on all new homes priced up to £600,000, including many of our apartments in Lymington. Taking out an equity loan for up to 20% of the price could make a massive difference to what people can afford to buy as they will typically only need a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage.”

Current prices start from £346,500 for a ‘Maldon’ style two-bedroom duplex apartment. Downstairs it features an open plan kitchen, living and dining room with terrace. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, each with en-suite. Both bedrooms enjoy access to a balcony, enabling residents to make the most of their outside space and enjoy the views.

Using Help to Buy, a Maldon duplex apartment can be snapped up for an initial outlay of £277,200. The remainder is covered by the equity loan, which is interest free for five years and can be repaid when the customer has more funds available or when they re-sell.

Lymington Shores features a blend of luxury apartments, duplexes, penthouses and million pound-plus villas.

Carefully crafted to not only meet but exceed the demands of even the most discerning of buyers, each property boasts a superb specification with designer kitchens and sleek bathroom suites.

Along with the new homes, the development will also include shops, a gallery, a restaurant, boat club, open spaces and a new pedestrian bridge link to the town centre, giving discerning buyers everything they want and need on their doorstep.
