Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey West Midlands is contributing towards investment of more than £2.7m in local community facilities as part of a major new homes development which is now taking shape in Evesham.

The Orchards development is delivering high-quality homes with on-site public open space and children’s play facilities, plus a host of amenities to the community – including contributions towards funding for the local area totalling £2,777,482.

The money being pledged by Taylor Wimpey and other housebuilders includes over £1.3m for education facilities and over £1m for public open space provision, with an additional £160,125 for public transport, £100,000 for off-site sports facilities, £50,000 for cycling facilities, £25,000 for arts and culture, £19,202 for recycling and £3,500 for highway improvements.

In addition, The Orchards will also bring additional investment to the local community through the New Homes Bonus initiative. Under this scheme, the Government match-funds the council tax raised from the building of each of the development’s 502 new homes, with the money provided directly to the local authority.

What’s more, 151 of the new homes being constructed on the overall development are designated as affordable housing, while 150 plots will feature photovoltaic panels to capture solar energy.

Elaine Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey says: “Every single new home we build at Taylor Wimpey is part of a community, and we are committed to ensuring this exciting new development in Evesham offers much more than just high-quality properties for local people.

“Our contributions towards the investment of more than £2.7m will help to improve public facilities and infrastructure for the benefit of the whole community, ensuring that this sustainable new homes development will both complement and enhance the local area.”

There’s a superb selection of new homes now on sale at The Orchards, including two-bedroom houses from £168,995, four-bedroom detached homes from £309,995, and five-bedroom properties from £389,995.

The Orchards enjoys a spectacular setting where established natural features, including a picturesque orchard, mature trees and hedgerows and a tranquil stream, are complemented by beautiful new open spaces.

Beyond the borders of the development lie open fields to the north, and peaceful walks can be taken into the stunning Worcestershire countryside along Shakespeare’s Avon Way.

Meanwhile, an established residential community neighbours the development to the south, and Bengeworth First School, which was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted at its latest inspection, is also right on the doorstep.

Historic Tudor buildings rub shoulders with a superb selection of boutique shops, big-name retailers, bars, tea rooms and well-regarded restaurants in the vibrant and pretty riverside market town of Evesham, which lies within walking distance of home.

Commuters will appreciate that The Orchards is just 18 miles from Worcester and the M5 north, or 21 miles from the M5 south for Gloucester and the south west, while central Birmingham is just 31 miles away and can be easily reached by car. Evesham railway station provides regular direct services to London and to Worcester for connections to Birmingham New Street.
