Geologist entertains at Purbeck Gate in Wool Visitors to Barratt’s Purbeck Gate development in Wool enjoyed a special treat on recently, when a local geologist gave them an insight into Dorset’s Jurassic coastline.

“David Gerrish, a retired geologist, spent the afternoon talking about the historic coastline,” said Mark Docherty, Barratt sales director. “He has conducted a number of field trips in the region as he used to work in a local private school.

“A variety of books and posters were on display, and residents and visitors alike were able to get some tips on how to look for the fossils that are literally on their doorstep.

“The Jurassic Coast includes the Dorset and East Devon coast and it is England's first natural World Heritage Site,” Mark continued.

“It covers 95 miles of truly stunning coastline, with rocks recording 185 million years of the Earth's history. People were really keen to find out more and the afternoon was a great success.”

Purbeck Gate, a development of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, is located in the tranquil village of Wool in Dorset. The village is situated on the Isle of Purbeck, part of the Jurassic coastline.

Current availability includes a two-bedroom apartment priced at £149,995 and two and three-bedroom bungalows priced from £249,995. All come with garages.

“We can offer a number of buyer incentives,” Mark continued. “These include our Head Start scheme for first-time buyers, whereby they secure a mortgage for 85 per cent of the total property price, while Barratt finances the remaining 15 per cent for up to 10 years.

“We can also offer part exchange to buyers moving into a larger property. Barratt effectively buys your old home for cash, enabling you to relax without the worry and cost of selling your property,” he added.

Purbeck Gate lies six miles from Wareham and 12 miles from Dorchester. The nearby seaside town of Weymouth, just 14 miles away, has been chosen to host the sailing events during the 2012 Olympics.
