Research pays off for Dorchester scientist First time buyer Alex Davies made the most of the current property market when he secured an excellent deal at Bryant Homes’ Queens Park development in Dorchester.

The biomedical scientist at Dorset County Hospital made a savvy first step on to the property ladder by snapping up a stylish two bedroom apartment off plan at the development on Edward Road, where prices start at just £99,995.

Alex, 27, said: “I had been looking for a place of my own on and off for a couple of years and had an idea of what I wanted to buy but I just couldn’t find it anywhere. As soon as I saw the plans for the duplex Wordsworth apartments at Bryant Homes’ new Queens Park development I knew I’d found my new home.

“The apartment was the first place I could picture me living in as I could visualise where all my things would be. It was also one of very few apartments in the area with a garage which I really wanted as I have a soft top car. The other advantage is that it’s in an ideal location - when I move in I’ll be close to work as well as the town centre for amenities and nights out.”

Alex, who is living at home while his apartment is being built, was determined to put his money into a property of his own rather than rent.

He said: “I have definitely made the right decision to buy as I’ve got an excellent deal on a stylish home in a great location which would normally be out of budget. I am also pleased that I’m not going to be throwing money away on rent month after month and instead putting my hard earned cash into something for the future. I can’t wait to move in although I don’t know if I’ll be holding a house warming party – I don’t want the place to get wrecked on my first weekend living there!”

Savvy purchasers looking for a bargain will find the chic Byron studio apartments are ideal as they offer stylish living accommodation and a parking space for as little as £99,995. There is also a collection of stylish Browning apartments available, with prices starting at £179,995.

Pauline Fletcher, regional sales and marketing director for Bryant Homes, comments: “As Alex has found, getting onto the property ladder is a smart move and one which makes sound long term financial sense. Why spend hundreds of pounds a month paying off somebody else’s mortgage when you could be contributing to equity in a property of your own?

“We understand the pressures that first time buyers face which is why our stylish apartments offer exceptional value for money. Many people probably don’t realise that they can get a stunning new apartment for less than £100,000 in such a beautiful location as Dorchester. If you’re thinking of making a move onto or up the property ladder why not come and see us? We have a range of incentives and government backed schemes available which could be the difference between independence in 2009 and another year with Mum and Dad.”

When complete, Queens Park will offer a collection of stylish one and two bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom homes. Located just off the Weymouth Road, to the south of the town centre, the development is only a short walk away from Dorchester’s charming historical centre and its range of local amenities including individual boutiques, tea shops and the bustling weekly market.
