Barclays takes to park benches to talk mobile banking

6th October 2010 Print

This week Barclays bank managers will swap their seat in a branch for a seat under a branch as they take to park benches for a series of Barclays mobile banking clinics.

The six events, kicking off in London's Russell Square, will see bank managers holding park bench financial demonstrations for passersby via Barclays mobile banking service.

Leaving behind their usual bank duties for the day, the managers will instead show local customers how they can use their own mobile phone to access a new variety of bank services. Using the newly updated barclays.mobi site each manager will offer free advice on how to check their balance, make transfers or even set up new third party payments - all from the flexibility of a park bench.

Throughout the week Barclays mobile banking clinics will be visiting London, Harrogate, Cardiff, Colchester, Manchester and Birmingham, showing residents firsthand just how easy and convenient mobile banking really is.

Sean Gilchrist, Barclays Digital Banking Director, said: "Barclays has been taking the lead in mobile phone banking for some time and we wanted to get out and about and show our customers exactly how easy this service is and really demonstrate that it can be done anywhere."

"What's more, not only is mobile banking convenient, research has also shown that people who use mobile banking are more in touch with their bank balance and have a better grasp on their finances. So why not rest your feet and take a moment to chat with one of our local Bank managers."

Barclays mobile phone banking service allows people to view balances, mini-statements, transfer between Barclays accounts, send payments to a third party. There are also tools such as finding their nearest branch and ATM, currency conversion tool.
