Miller Homes North East is celebrating success as four of its site managers have won Quality Awards in this year’s coveted National House-Building Council’s (NHBC’s) Pride in the Job Awards.

Barrie Dobson, Simon Robson, George Heron and Paul Ritchie were recognised in the first round of the annual awards, designed to recognise the achievements of the very best site managers in the UK.

The aim is to raise quality standards of new homes and reward the people behind the build programme.

Barrie, who oversees the Cobblers Hall development in Newton Aycliffe, Simon who is site manager for Heather Lea Green in Crook, George from The Meadows in Durham and Paul, who looks after Greenvale Park in Newcastle upon Tyne all underwent an 18-month judging process, including spot checks on the day-to day running of the sites.

They were assessed across 38 areas of site management and tested on technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls.

It is the third year in a row that Simon has won a Pride in the Job Award and the second time for Barrie and Paul, together with Simon the foursome will now take part in the next stage of the competition, where they could be in line for a Seal of Excellence Award.

Miller Homes North East production director Neil Dickie said: “I am absolutely thrilled to see that our site managers have been so successful in this year’s Pride in the Job Awards. We pride ourselves on the quality of our homes and without such fantastic site managers, we wouldn’t be able to deliver such high quality products for our customers.”

26 Miller Homes site managers from across the UK won Quality Awards, the highest number the company has achieved to date. This is the fourth consecutive increase of Quality Award Winners for Miller Homes.

The first round of the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards sees 400 site managers acknowledged for their services to quality and excellence in house building.

Miller Homes operations director Chris Endsor said: “This is the 4th year in a row that we have consistently improved on the previous year’s results, which is a real credit to all those who will be presented with a Quality Award, and recognition of all the hard work that is carried out by our teams across the country to continually raise our standards.”

The Quality Award winning site managers now go through to the next round of the competition, where just 130 of the 400 recognised will win Seal of Excellence Awards.
