Miller Homes opens the door to new operations director

North East house builder Miller Homes has announced the appointment of Michael Dunthorne as operations director.

Michael, 43, who lives in Newcastle has been with Miller Homes for 10 years, following a successful career in the construction industry, previously with Persimmon, Beazer and Leech Homes.

Also holding the position of technical director for Miller Homes’ North Area, previously Michael worked as technical manger before his promotion to director level. His new role sees him responsible for sales, production and commercial disciplines in the North East region. He is also responsible for achieving sales targets, build programme delivery and efficiency, safety on site and overseeing costs and design procedures.

Miller Homes North East operations director Michael Dunthorne said: “Miller Homes is an exciting company with lots of career progression opportunities. Working for the UK’s largest private house builder has allowed me to work on some of the most exciting developments the region has seen in recent years, including our first ever 100% solar panel housing development.

“I aim to continue with the good work the company is achieving and help to drive the business forward with a robust strategy now in place to prepare ourselves for improved market conditions in the industry. We are acquiring land, securing more Government funded schemes to help first time buyers and building a quality product.”

Michael, who qualified as an architectural technician at Sunderland Wearside College has worked on more than 50 Miller Homes’ developments across its Northern area and has helped the house builder win numerous accolades including, First Time Buyer’s Award for Private Housebuilder of the Year, the NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Awards and LABC Built in Quality Awards.

A further new appointment for Miller Homes North East also sees commercial director, Tony Johnson, promoted to look after the Yorkshire region in addition to his work in the North East.
