Sales of hybrid cars in the UK have doubled in the last 12 months – making cleaner cars the fastest growing sector in the industry. Year to date results for the hybrid market show an increase in sales from 3,117 to 6,568 cars – or 111 per cent.
Honda (UK) has announced an impressive 26 per cent increase in fleet sales over the first three months of this year, helped by the resurgence of Accord in the sector. Corporate sales of Honda’s premium saloon are up by 68 per cent to 2,202 units.
Honda’s manufacturing operation in Swindon is on track with its planned expansion to full capacity. By the end of this year, the UK operation will be producing cars at a rate of 250,000 per annum. An extra 700 associates are being recruited, which will bring the total workforce at Swindon to 5,000.
For the second year running Honda has achieved second place overall in the J.D. Power Survey, scoring highly across all four categories - vehicle quality and reliability, vehicle appeal, service satisfaction and ownership costs.
For the first time ever, Honda (UK) has sold over 100,000 cars in a year – an achievement that illustrates the considerable growth of the company over the past two decades.
