Flybe announce more services from Southampton to Manchester

20th June 2007 Print
Flybe, Europe’s biggest regional airline, today announces plans to increase its daily service from Southampton to Manchester from six to seven flights a day, as well as deploying the Embraer 195 on at least half of these services, increasing capacity by 40%.

Flybe has been operating on this route since 2004 and with fares starting at just £27.99 one way including taxes and charges and is responding to consumer demand since it lowered fares in the aftermath of its takeover of the high-price BA Connect.

The Southampton to Manchester route has always proved extremely popular with travellers due to the low fares and short one hour journey time, compared to over four and a half hours (and two changes) on the train, and Flybe is confident that people will continue to profit from its services, particularly as the latest rail Passenger Focus survey showing customers rated their value for money score at its lowest ever level.

Flybe’s additional service, which will depart at 1535 from Manchester and 1655 from Southampton, daily, begins on August 1st 2007 seats are now available for booking at Flybe.com.

Last week Flybe announced an aviation first with the launch of an eco-labelling scheme for its aircraft, and passengers choosing to fly with the airline can be assured that they are travelling on one of the most environmentally sensitive fleets in the industry.

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer at Flybe comments: “Southampton has been a key base for Flybe over the past 9 years and we have always provided high frequency flights, low fares, and the best possible packages for both leisure and business travellers. We intend to maintain our commitment to the region and remain ahead of the competition by consistently offering our passengers low-cost, frequent and convenient travel from their doorstep, to destinations across the UK and Europe.”
