Flybe slashes Jersey to Gatwick prices

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, is today announcing the introduction of two additional services during peak commuter travel times on its popular Jersey to London Gatwick route that will boost its daily return service on this key route to six a day.

Flybe is also adding an extra Saturday service. Ticket prices have also been slashed to £19.99 one way on selected flights and are now available for booking on Flybe.com for flights commencing 28th October 2007.

In response to the news, Deputy Alan Mclean, Assistant Minister for Economic Development with specific responsibility for Jersey International Airport says: "Flybe has been the largest airline operating services to and from Jersey for a number of years and time after time have shown their commitment to the Island. Today's announcement reaffirms this and I welcome the news that once again Flybe is anticipating the needs of the travelling public and adapting and enhancing their services in response to what the customer wants, which is high frequency, low fares together with the punctuality that Flybe is achieving.

“Jersey Airport is totally committed to supporting Flybe in what can only be described as exciting times ahead for Flybe routes, having recently announced a new service to Newcastle starting next year.”

Passengers travelling with Flybe will have the chance to fly on the airline’s newest E195 Embraer jet that will operate this key Jersey to London Gatwick route. The aircraft, which will be one of only five in service in the world, is deemed one of the most environmentally sensitive in the industry.

This latest news from Flybe confirms the airline’s commitment to its Channel Islands base, providing passengers with increased travel choice on this key commuter route which it has been operating since 1993, benefiting both business and leisure passengers alike at peak travel times.

Mr Rutter adds: “Over the last 18 months we have been continuing the re-design of our fleet by replacing older aircraft with the environmentally sensitive Embraer 195 and Q400 aircraft. As Jersey is such a key base for us it seemed very fitting to station an Embraer at the base, once again demonstrating our commitment to island travellers.”
