Travelex launches Multi-currency prepaid card

31st May 2013 Print

Travelex has launched a new prepaid travel money card that can carry up to seven currencies at any one time.

The Travelex Multi-currency Cash Passport can be loaded with funds before users travel and topped up with more money whenever they like, online, over the phone or in any Travelex UK store. And for maximum convenience, the new prepaid card can be loaded with any combination of the following currencies at the same time:

Euros (EUR)
US Dollars (USD)
Australian Dollars (AUD)
Canadian Dollars (CAD)
New Zealand Dollars (NZD)
South African Rand (ZAR)
British Pounds (GBP)

Once loaded, the Multi-currency Cash Passport is ready to use worldwide, to withdraw money from cash machines or to shop anywhere with the MasterCard Acceptance Mark.

For rate-savvy travellers, the Multi-currency Cash Passport is a great way to keep track of their spending and manage their holiday budget. When currency is loaded onto one of the currencies on the card, the exchange rate is locked in, meaning that a user can be certain of how much they have to spend with no need for difficult exchange maths or approximations of costs on the move.

Cardholders are also able to move money from one currency to another on the card – providing a great solution for those making multi-destination trips. This ‘purse-to-purse’ transfer functionality also means leftover currency can easily be transferred directly ahead of the cardholder’s next trip, providing a convenient and cost-effective solution.

When travellers use the card, it will always choose the right currency to use and if travellers don’t have enough local currency to make a purchase, the card will automatically search through the currencies on the card, for available funds to complete the transaction. For travellers going to countries where the local currency is not one of the currencies available on the card, the card can still be used to pay for goods, though this will be subject to an exchange rate and foreign exchange fee.

As with all Travelex Cash Passports, the Multi-currency card is one of the most secure ways to carry money, due to Travelex's Global Assistance support. If the Multi-currency Cash Passport is stolen, it has no links to the cardholder’s bank account or credit card and if lost or damaged cardholders have easy access to a replacement card or emergency cash. Travelex even provides an additional card so if one is lost, stolen or damaged travellers still have access to their money.

The Multi-currency Cash Passport is free to purchase, free to use in shops, restaurants and hotels and free when using an ATM abroad (though some cash machine operators and merchants may charge a fee).

The new card can be purchased exclusively in-store at Travelex stores across the UK. For full details of the fees and charges associated with the card see cashpassport.com/travelex.
