With the change of clocks marking the start of the British winter, now is the perfect time to indulge in a taste of ‘la dolce vita’ with some traditional Italian comfort food - and the great news is you don’t need to jet-off to the Mediterranean to satisfy your craving!

Grana Padano, the traditional Italian cheese, will be joining forces with Slow Food UK once again for  the year’s biggest and most exciting food events - MasterChef Live in London (12-18 November 2010) and the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham (24-28 November 2010).

The two organisations share a passion for promoting premium quality, locally produced foods and so for the second year running, Grana Padano will feature as part of the Slow Food UK Pavillion, where visitors will be given the opportunity to sample two vintages of the classic Italian hard cheese, and learn more about the Grana Padano and Slow Food UK partnership. VIP guests will also be able to sample the vintages as part of a bespoke taste workshop with Slow Food.

Grana Padano has ‘PDO’ status - Protected Designation of Origin - which gives credence to the product’s quality, production and gastronomic heritage.

Characterised by its grainy texture and sweet but strong taste, Grana Padano is extremely versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes, which explains why it’s the best selling PDO cheese in the world today.

Founded in Italy 1989, Slow Food is a global movement encouraging the enjoyment of food with a commitment to community and environment. Slow Food believes that food should not only taste good, but be produced ‘cleanly’ and in a sustainable manner, while ensuring producers are rewarded fairly for their skill and labour.

With so many shared values, it’s clear this partnership is a match made in ‘foodie heaven’. If you share their ethos and have an appetite for quality artisan products, authentic cooking-styles and regional produce, or simply want to find out more, the Grana Padano and Slow Food UK Pavillion at the BBC Good Food Shows is a mouth-watering event not to be missed!
