BMW has announced the involvement of a further 10 world-class athletes to its BMW London 2012 Performance Team.  The newest members of the team range from medal prospects Rebecca Adlington, David Weir and Tim Brabants to 2012 hopefuls Perri Shakes-Drayton and Zara Dampney.

The latest 10 recruits will join the 12 athletes, including Tom Daley and Ellie Simmonds, announced back in January 2011, in utilising BMW’s technological and performance expertise to support their journey to the London 2012 Games.  As part of the BMW London 2012 Performance Team they will be sharing key moments and insights into their preparation for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games at bmw.co.uk/London2012.

The BMW London 2012 Performance Team is an initiative designed to support British athletes as they prepare for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  With the understanding that even the smallest change can make a big difference to performance, BMW will be working with the athletes in the Performance Team to support them.

Chosen by London 2012 as the Official Automotive Partner, BMW’s sustainability credentials will help London 2012 deliver a sustainable Games. As part of the partnership, BMW will supply a range of Efficient Dynamic diesel cars, hybrids and electric vehicles, achieving average CO2 emissions below the LOCOG target of 120g/km, as well as bicycles and motorcycles.

These vehicles will play a key part in the smooth running of the Games, supporting Olympic and Paralympic events and transporting the athletes, officials and media. The BMW London 2012 Performance Team will also benefit by being provided with vehicles to support them in their preparation for the Games.

Alongside the national BMW London 2012 Performance Team, BMW and MINI dealers will support athletes across the UK by linking with athletes in their local areas.
