UK regional airline, Eastern Airways has been named the UK’s most punctual scheduled airline. The independent carrier, which operates from 18 airports, has stepped up to the number one spot for the start of this year after it was second overall in the UK in 2007. The airline was ahead of Air Berlin, bmi regional, Brussels Airlines, bmibaby and Ryanair.


Delta Air Lines announced today new nonstop daily service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Buenos Aires, Argentina, starting December 18, 2008.* The new Delta flight to Buenos Aires complements the airline’s existing daily service to Argentina from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.


Delta Air Lines has announced it will offer a rebate of the new $25 fee for checking a second bag to customers who purchased tickets from Delta prior to April 9, 2008 and travelled on or after May 5. Delta Air Lines today confirms that a tentative agreement has been reached between the Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines units of the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) on a joint contract to take effect upon closing of the Delta-Northwest merger, expected later this year. The pilot groups also have established a separate process designed to establish a single pilot seniority list by the close of the merger.


Japan Airlines (JAL) will make a significant contribution to the search for a viable, sustainable, second-generation biofuel for commercial use by the aviation industry. The Government of Montserrat has agreed a contract with Caribbean airline LIAT to operate a new scheduled air service between Antigua and Montserrat, beginning on July 1, 2008. Delta Air Lines this week begins nonstop service between Salt Lake City International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport.
