New CEO to head up nationwide roll out of easyPizza

4th September 2008 Print
Online pizza delivery service easyPizza.com, part of Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou’s easyGroup, has appointed David Sweeney as its first CEO. David brings with him significant expertise in the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) and franchise sectors and will be responsible for supporting existing easyPizza franchisees as well as expanding the network nationwide, providing a top quality, low cost pizza delivery service to an even wider customer base.

He joins the company from Burger King where he was Head of Franchising for North West Europe. Prior to this, David spent five years at Papa John’s Pizza as Director of Business Development where he was responsible for concept development, mapping and site selection, restaurant design and franchise marketing and recruitment.

Since its launch in 2004, the easyPizza service has been remodelled to create better value for customers and significantly extended its network. The service now covers over 95% of the Central London area, as well as having franchises in Brighton, Reading, Milton Keynes and Worthing. New sites are being added daily.

David says: “The easyPizza business model has proved to be an extremely successful one, harnessing the power of the internet to cut down on costs and offer customers a great, low value alternative to traditional pizza service providers.

“The long term aim of the business is to have an easyPizza online delivery service offered by a franchise within delivery distance of the majority of the UK, creating a major brand force within the UK pizza delivery service sector.

“That means that, like all the easy brands, we’ll be offering a great value, fun and no hassle option to as many customers as possible.”

With a range of six pizzas, including the specially created El Stel, easyPizza works on the same basis as other easy.com brands - so the more pizzas you buy the more value you get.

Pizzas cost £5.39 for a 30 cm/11.5 inch pizza – which is enough to feed two. If you buy two they cost £9.95, three come in at £14.50 and five pizzas cost a great value £22.95. Just order online and the pizza is brought straight to your door.

easyPizza is not available on the high street, and so does not cater for “walk-up” trade or other collections - it is a delivery service only. This means that the money easyPizza saves on its premises, by avoiding the relatively high cost of high street rents, allows it to deliver top quality, great value pizza.
