Turn your simple photo prints into gifts

5th March 2012 Print

Thanks to the revolution brought about by the advent of digital photography, turning the images you’ve captured into photo prints has now been made simpler than it’s ever been. Not only is it quick and easy to produce actual photographs, but you can also use your own favourite images to create items such as bespoke photo cards.

Before digital photography became the predominant medium for capturing and producing images, the process of photo developing was one which was long, complicated and difficult. The physical nature of analogue film meant that the actual roll had to be removed carefully from the camera itself and then handed over to a specialised laboratory to be developed and printed. Often, this would mean paying a visit to a high street developer, handing it in at a chemists or, even more annoyingly, having to put it in and envelope and send it to a laboratory at the other end of the country. Whichever one of these methods you opted for, it would almost always entail a lengthy wait until you got your hand on your pictures, and if you wanted to speed the process up at all, then a premium price would be charged.

Digital photo prints, on the other hand, couldn’t be any simpler. Anyone who owns or has access to a PC and printer can reel off as many copies of as many images as they like and even if this option isn’t pen to you, many high street shops provide the facilities for quickly and simply producing photo prints which you can take home with you there and then. Not only is the process quick and simple in its’ initial stages, but it also means that once you’ve identified a favourite image you can return easily to access as many reprints and enlargements as you see fit, with absolutely no deterioration in the quality of the image being produced.

Over and above the images themselves, however, one of the key advantages of digital photography is the amazing number of things which can be done with digital images once they’ve been captured and stored. The technology is so flexible that your own photographs can now be utilised on occasions such as Mothers Day and turned into fantastic gifts for Mum. From novelty key rings and fridge magnets to more lavish items such as bespoke canvas prints and individual photo books, the range is so vast that you’re bound to be able to find something which is genuinely perfect for your own Mother.

No matter what you choose to create, the process for doing so has been made extremely simple. All that you need to do is upload the image or images in question to the appropriate site and then utilise the software provided. Appreciating the fact that most people have little or no experience of either graphic design or computing, everything will be laid out in a simple, step by step, logical manner, and the finished item will be put together using the best possible materials and production techniques.
