FirstBuy helps family to buy property in Basingstoke

It’s easy for first-time buyers to purchase their own home at Taylor Wimpey’s Limes Park development of property for sale in Basingstoke – as the Albery-Jones family found out.

Surrey parents Charlotte and Chris Albery-Jones feared they might have to spend years saving up the hefty deposit needed to step on the Basingstoke property ladder.

But one day, Charlotte (32) found fresh hope that they could become homeowners much sooner when she discovered the FirstBuy scheme, which can help first-time buyers secure new homes for sale in Basingstoke with only a 5% deposit.

Soon after, Charlotte, Chris and their four-year-old daughter Solace were settling into their very own family home thanks to this fantastic scheme at Taylor Wimpey’s Limes Park development of houses for sale in Basingstoke.

“We were living in a rented house in Surrey, it had four bedrooms and was really nice, but it wasn’t ours,” says Charlotte, a full-time mother, reflecting on their search for new homes in Basingstoke. “We felt restricted living there because we couldn’t put our own stamp on it.

“Because of the need for increasingly large deposits, we had resigned ourselves to spending a few more years renting a place – but that was until I read about FirstBuy in an online news article.”

FirstBuy lets qualifying first-time buyers secure selected new build homes in Basingstoke at Limes Park with just an 80% mortgage, including a 5% deposit, subject to status.

The initiative works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which is only repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage or when the property at the Taylor Wimpey Basingstoke development is sold. To be eligible, purchasers in search of properties to buy in Basingstoke must be first-time buyers and their total household earnings should be less than £60,000.

“I did some research into the scheme, filled in the forms and sent off the application,” says Charlotte. “Within weeks we had been approved, which meant we could start seriously considering which house at Limes Park we wanted to live in.”

The Albery-Joneses chose a spacious three-bedroom townhouse at Limes Park because its generous layout was ideally suited to the needs of a busy family.

“I’ve always loved townhouses because I feel most comfortable having the living space on the first floor,” adds Charlotte. “The layout of the property is fantastic, you can tell thought has been put into how every room works so that every bit of space can be used.

“Everything was done in about eight weeks and we collected the keys to our beautiful new home in December. We love living at Limes Park and relaxing in our stylish family home.”

A superb selection of homes is currently available at Limes Park with the FirstBuy scheme.

The two-bedroom Plot 250 ‘Spencer House’ apartment, for example, is available to qualifying purchasers with FirstBuy from 80% of its £173,000 price – that’s just £138,400, including a 5% deposit of just £8,650!

Meanwhile, the three-bedroom ‘Blatch’ property, priced £214,995, is available from £172,000 under FirstBuy, and alternative three-bedroom designs are priced from just £279,995 and four-bedroom properties from only £274,995.

All homes at the development are completed to a high standard specification, including energy efficient central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob and hood.

Limes Park is located on the north-western fringes of Basingstoke with the town centre just two miles from the development.

Basingstoke itself combines historical influences with bustling modern shops and exciting leisure pursuits, while Festival Place shopping centre comprises more than 150 shops, restaurants, bars and cafés.

The town is also home to a choice of music venues, multi-screen cinemas, tennis courts, a leisure park, sports clubs, an ice rink, a swimming pool and bowling alleys. The open countryside is also just a stone’s throw away, offering nature trails and opportunities for woodland walks and cycling.
