First-time buyers offered hope in Hockley

First-time buyers struggling to find an affordable home because of a decreasing number of suitable properties available are being urged to head to a popular Hockley development before it is too late.

It is estimated that nearly a quarter of househunters over the next 12 months will be first-time buyers, and a third of people taking their first step onto the property ladder are concerned that they won’t be able to find an appropriate property.

Local housebuilder Morris is urging first-time buyers to head to its Aston Place development on Lodge Road, where a selection of its last remaining new build properties are available with the Government-led FirstBuy scheme.

With the FirstBuy scheme first-time househunters are able to purchase a house at Aston Place for 80 per cent of its market value, allowing them to benefit from a lower deposit requirement and smaller monthly mortgage repayments.

Cindy Vials, regional sales director at Morris, said: “Unlike second-hand properties, our new build homes at Aston Place are fantastic for first-time buyers because they have no renovation costs.

“The FirstBuy scheme allows househunters to own their first home without having to worry about saving for a large deposit, making it a cost-effective way for young professionals and families to get on the property ladder.

“Aston Place’s location is fantastic for those wanting to live in the city centre, and the nearby Jewellery Quarter with its vibrant bars and shopping offers great access to local amenities.”

There are just four remaining properties at Aston Place, starting at £139,800 under the FirstBuy scheme.
