Parents too cash-strapped and time poor to enjoy Easter’s traditions

Easter has traditionally been a time for family, but research by LINDT has shown that in 2012, only half of UK parents think it’s important to spend time with their loved ones during the bank holiday.

Those that will spend time with their kids are more likely to eat chocolate together (74%), or watch TV (61%) than visit relatives (56%) or hold traditional Easter egg hunts (52%). Parents blame the poor economy and lack of funds (55%) and having to work long hours (42%) as to why they will not spend as much time with their children as they spent with their family when they were young.

In fact, only 35 per cent of today’s children are likely to paint Easter eggs with their folks, compared to 49 per cent of parents who regularly did so when they were children. Easter bonnet making is also in decline with only 17 per cent of kids in the UK likely to tap into their creative bonnet making side, compared to 29 per cent of parents who undertook the activity when they were young.

So to reinvigorate Easter traditions LINDT, and the LINDT Gold Bunny, are treating us all to egg-xtraspecial Easter hunts to inspire families to rediscover the fun of Easter traditions.
