FirstBuy is a hit with new homes in Basingstoke

Hampshire property-seekers will have to be quick to purchase their first home under the FirstBuy scheme at Taylor Wimpey’s Everest Park development of apartments and houses for sale in Basingstoke.
Scores of eager first-time buyers have been finding an easier way to climb onto the property ladder at Everest Park, Taylor Wimpey’s sought-after development of new homes for sale in Basingstoke.
Since the new Government-backed FirstBuy incentive was launched at the Taylor Wimpey Basingstoke development, there has been a rush of first-time purchasers who have used the scheme to secure their brand new apartment or house at Everest Park.
FirstBuy allows qualifying purchasers to secure selected Taylor Wimpey properties to buy in Basingstoke for as little as 80% of their full purchase price – including a 75% mortgage and a 5% deposit, subject to status.
Tim Betts, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Since launching FirstBuy at Everest Park, we have experienced a steady stream of enquiries from first-time buyers who had initially assumed ownership of a property for sale in Basingstoke would be out of their reach.
“Many of these initial enquiries have led to home-hunters hopping on to the first rung of the property ladder at Everest Park after finding out how simple and affordable it is to purchase a home with the help of FirstBuy in Basingstoke.
“While FirstBuy is still available at the development, it is limited to a selected number of houses and apartments for sale in Basingstoke, so I would urge those who dream of owning their first home to get in touch straight away to avoid missing out.”
FirstBuy works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which means that eligible purchasers in search of houses or flats for sale in Basingstoke only need put down a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage.
The loan is repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage term or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must be first-time buyers and their total household earnings should be less than £60,000.
For example, the fabulous Plot 271 one-bedroom ‘Pennine House’ apartment, priced £125,000, can be purchased for just £100,000, including a deposit of only £5,950, subject to status.
This stylish home features a spacious open-plan living/kitchen/dining room opening out to an attractive balcony, a master bedroom and a main bathroom, plus access to a communal garden and allocated parking.
Alternatively, the one-bedroom Plot 273 apartment can be secured for 80% of its £127,000 price under FirstBuy – that’s only £101,600 – while three and four-bedroom houses, priced from £249,995, can also be purchased using the FirstBuy initiative.
