Local housebuilder Morris is seeing a surge in enquiries at its Warrington development from buyers looking to reduce the deposit on their first home.

Recent statistics show that 39 per cent of people across the North West believe the biggest hurdle for first timers is saving for a deposit .

Morris is urging first-time buyers worried about the initial outlay on a home to head to its Edgewater Park development, off Thelwall Lane, where a select range of new build properties are available under its Great Start scheme.

The first time buyer scheme allows people to purchase a home with just a five per cent deposit, compared to the average 20 per cent on second hand homes . Great Start is proving popular at the development, leading to eight reservations in the past two months.

Chris Minshall, regional sales director for Morris, said: “We’ve really seen an increase in the number of house hunters worried about putting down their first ever deposit. The Great Start scheme offers real value for money as deposits are around three quarters less than a standard deposit.

“Under the scheme, the deposit is reduced considerably. First time buyers would be expected to put down just £6,590 on a three bedroom home at Edgewater Park – a saving of over £1,600.

The attractive canal side development is situated less than a ten minute drive from Warrington town centre with easy access to the M56 for commuting to Manchester and Chester.

Morris currently has a range of three and four bedroom homes at its Edgewater Park development starting from just £164,750.
