Government scheme lifts Leicestershire housing market

A new Government-backed mortgage scheme is already having positive results for one of the region’s leading house builders.

Persimmon Homes North Midlands has received seven NewBuy property reservations and is anticipating that many more will follow over the coming weeks.

NewBuy was launched in March 2012 and is the first scheme in years to offer people in England the chance to buy a new home with only a five per cent deposit.

It opens up a 95 per cent mortgage product to both first time buyers and those looking to move up the property ladder. More importantly, the scheme has no salary cap and is available to purchasers of new homes up to the value of £500,000.

Mariana Knight, sales and marketing director of Persimmon North Midlands, said: “NewBuy removes the obstacle of having to find a large deposit, which has been a key factor holding back the housing market in recent years.

“I wouldn’t want people across Leicestershire to miss out. So if you are looking for a new home, please get in touch with one of our sales advisors who will be able to help you take advantage of this exciting new scheme.”

Persimmon Homes North Midlands has homes ranging from apartments to executive family properties at developments in Hamilton, Countesthorpe, Birstall, Stoney Stanton and Leicester. The house builder also has developments located across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Staffordshire.
