Lee Christopher, Managing Director of Premier Logistics, knows a highly visible truck can only help to raise the image of his company – a philosophy fully reflected by his latest Mercedes-Benz Actros!

The stunning scarlet tractor unit is adorned with colour-coded grille, mirrors and ‘bull bars’, as well as alloy wheels, a roof-mounted light bar and a livery that certainly catches the eye. It also pulls one of Premier Logistics’ bright orange curtainsided trailers.

Mr Christopher’s Leicester-based company took delivery of the truck from East Midlands dealer Mertrux. An Actros 2546 model, it has joined a fleet of more than 50 trucks, which includes five other Actros and a substantial number of 18-tonne Axor 1824s. It is being serviced under a Mercedes-Benz Repair and Maintenance Contract at the dealer’s Leicester workshop.

Although Premier Logistics has added plenty of its own finishing touches, the truck is already a proven crowd-puller – sporting a special livery to mark the 40th anniversary of Mertrux, it was on display at the main entrance to last year’s Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC in Birmingham.

“Our fleet includes many Mercedes trucks and we know the Actros to be a fantastic workhorse – fuel-efficient, robust, reliable and superbly engineered,” said Mr Christopher. “We also believe firmly in the value of running highly specified, top-quality vehicles. It’s important to look after our drivers and to reflect the fact that we provide a Premier service to our customers.”

A leading member of the Pall-Ex network, Premier Logistics offers a palletised freight delivery service across the UK. But having been assigned to driver Simon Sanders, the new Actros is now hard at work on the company’s groupage operation, carrying loads as far afield as Southampton and the north of Scotland.

“Simon is delighted with the truck in terms of performance, driveability and the huge amount of living accommodation in the MegaSpace cab,” continued Mr Christopher.

“This Actros is also testament to the excellent working relationship we enjoy with Mertrux and emphasises the fantastic rapport we have built since my first purchase from the dealership, many moons ago. They were a great help to me when I started out as an owner-driver and have been a valued supplier to our business ever since.”
