Don’t get caught in the parent trap

10th July 2012 Print

If you’re aged between 20 and 34 and still live with your parents but are looking to flee the family home, you’re not alone. Recent research from the ONS highlights a third of men and a fifth of women in the UK are in the same position.

Those living at home in St Helens are being encouraged not to despair as help is at hand from Taylor Wimpey North West. The leading homebuilder boasts a range of desirable yet affordable properties at its Cunningham Grange development in the town, which are ideal for first time buyers.

Lynne Vogel, regional sales manager for Taylor Wimpey North West, explains: “Many twenty-somethings may have resided to the fact that they can’t afford to step on to the property ladder, but we’re here to prove this just isn’t the case in St Helens.

“We have a selection of three bedroom homes at Cunningham Grange which are available using the government funded FirstBuy* scheme, meaning they are within reach for house hunters who have only managed to save a low deposit.”

Taylor Wimpey is offering FirstBuy* on a selection of properties at the development including the three bedroom Bancroft. Originally priced at £147,950 this stunning home can be snapped up for just £118,360* using FirstBuy* with a deposit of £7,398*.

FirstBuy* works through a joint loan of 20% from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Taylor Wimpey, which means that eligible purchasers only need to pay a 5% deposit and obtain a 75% loan-to-value mortgage. The loan is repayable at the end of the mortgage term or when the property is sold. To be eligible, purchasers must be first time buyers and the total household earning should be less than £60,000.

Lynne concludes: “The FirstBuy* scheme has already helped many house hunters onto the property ladder so is the perfect option for those who are keen to set up their own home and are looking for somewhere truly special without breaking the bank.”

The development is close to a wide range of local amenities for day to day living, both in the immediate area and nearby Eccleston. There’s also an excellent range of restaurants, pubs and bars locally. In addition, there are fantastic educational facilities for all ages, including several primary and secondary schools along with sixth form colleges.
