City workers seeking an active life without having to travel far for their leisure time should visit Glass House in E1. The new shared ownership development by Genesis is ideally located in Shadwell, midway between the City and Canary Wharf, home to some of London’s secret playgrounds.

With the Olympic Games taking place across the capital, Londoners are being inspired to take part in an ever increasing variety of outdoor pursuits. Glass House is close to the Shadwell Basin, where climbing, kayaking and much more are on offer, and St Katharine Docks, where sailors and yachtsmen can take to the water.

At Glass House the homes are available through shared ownership, designed to help those who do not own a property get on the property ladder. Buyers can purchase between 25% and 75% and can increase their share at any time, all the way to 100% and outright ownership. Glass House is available to anyone who does not already own a property and is unable to buy a home on the open market. Their total household income must be less than £60,000 per annum and ideally have savings of around £3,500 to cover moving and legal costs.

There are eleven properties available in a range of one, two and three bedroom layouts. The apartments are flooded with natural light and well designed living areas making the most of the space. Interiors boast high quality finishes, including oak laminate flooring and carpets. Stylish kitchens are fully fitted with integrated appliances, generous storage and granite effect worktops.

Most of the homes at Glass House have their own private outdoor space in the form of a balcony, often accessible from the bedroom as well as the living area. From here, the upper floors have impressive views towards the Thames, City of London skyline and local attractions including King Edward Memorial Park which has a bandstand, waterfront benches, children's play area, bowling green, all weather football pitch and four tennis courts.

Glass House is perfectly located for commuters, less than a ten-minute walk from Limehouse or Shadwell DLR stations, from where it is only a five minute journey to Canary Wharf or Bank. Despite its central location, the Glass House is in a peaceful situation, close to the river and a park - perfect for those whose activity of choice is jogging, or simply taking it easy.

Prices start from £55,000 for a 25% share of a one-bedroom apartment, based on a full market value of £220,000. Two-bedroom homes start at £70,000 for a 25% share in a property worth £280,000. Three bedroom apartments start from £77,500 for a 25% share based on a full market value of £310,000.
