Last few homes left for first time buyers at St Helens development

First-time buyers in St Helens are being urged to act quickly as there are only a limited number of properties left under the government-led FirstBuy scheme at the popular Waterside Village development.

Local housebuilder Morris Homes has announced there are only a few FirstBuy properties left on the Lowfield Lane development, at a time when recent statistics suggest the number of prospective first-time buyers is at its highest for almost three years.

The FirstBuy scheme means first-time buyers can take advantage of a smaller deposit of only five per cent – an attractive offer as new research has revealed that raising a deposit is still the main concern for 33 per cent of first-time buyers.

The scheme also enables first-time buyers to buy their home at 80 per cent of its market value, allowing them to benefit from lower monthly payments.

Some of the FirstBuy properties available at Waterside Village are the Hartley-style townhouses which are three-storey, three-bedroom homes with single garages which have previously proven popular with those looking for a more flexible living space. Under the FirstBuy scheme the houses are available from £141,400.

Regional sales director for Morris, Chris Minshall, said: “First-time buyers are learning that the current economic climate does not necessarily spell the end of their plans to buy a home.

“An increasing number of first-time buyers are taking advantage of the FirstBuy scheme and, with the Waterside Village properties quickly being snapped up, people need to register their interest in the homes now to avoid disappointment in the future.”
