Fast-paced, street-themed activities will capture the essence of smart’s fun nature at the 2012 smart festival.

This year’s event, held on 6 October at Mercedes-Benz World at Weybridge, Surrey, will be jam-packed with fun forall attractions, including beatboxer Jack Hobbs AKA “Hobbit”, urban basketball, freestyle yo-yoing and slacklining.

The stars of smart’s latest ’skate fortwo’ film, pro freestyle skateboarders Kilian Martin and Alfredo Urbon, will be performing breathtaking stunts on the world’s first-ever tandem skateboard that’s causing an online sensation. To view the film and access behind-the-scenes footage visit youtube.co.uk/smartfortwouk.

Festival-goers can get in on the action too as they will be encouraged to try something new and exciting.

Things to look out for and take part in include: Musical smarts – like  musical chairs but with smarts; the smart EBALL game that uses radio-controlled, full-sized electric drive models in a giant homage to the cult computer game Pong; and ‘smart sweep’ which demonstrates the agility, flexibility and load capacity of the smart fortwo as drivers negotiate a fantasy high street, loading their car with goodies en route.  The top three ‘shoppers’ who correctly complete the task in the most efficient way will each win £25 worth of shopping vouchers.

The radical roofless, doorless, glassless smart crossblade is celebrating its 10th birthday this year, and there’ll be old favourites from previous events too: with smart football; smart racing demonstrations; a funfair; Kids Fun Zone and competitions for the festival’s best-of-all smarts. Enthusiasts will also have the chance to ask the on-site smart specialists anything they like!

Gary Savage, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz UK, said: “This year’s smart festival is all about getting involved.  It’s an event that’s fun forall, and we want the festival folks to turn up and join in.  It’s really easy to experience the brand’s fun and slightly cheeky nature, through innovative activities that reflect smart’s brand values: gutsy, non-conformist and ingenious.

“The festival is an absolute must for anyone interested in smart, and with a fantastic mix of old favourites returning as well as amazing new things to see and do, the 2012 smart festival promises to be even bigger and better than last year’s record-breaking event.”
