A top North Somerset spa is hosting a series of events in October and inviting local women along to be pampered and learn new health and beauty tips.

thespa at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House in Congresbury is holding a Skin Scanning and Reviver Facials day on Wednesday 10 October and a Professional Make-Up day on Tuesday 23 October.

Spa manager Michelle Ferguson said that the events are back due to popular demand, after being sold out previously.

She said: “We have held both the skin scan day and the make-up day before and they’ve always been really popular with our guests so we decided to put them on again.

“For the skin scan day we use the luxury spa products from experts Pevonia Botanica. We will help women discover what type of skin they have and what products are best to use on it. We will then give a Reviver Facial which completely hydrates the skin.

“The make-up day is a chance for visitors to come and talk to a professional make-up artist who will teach them about application, colours and products, it’s great fun and there’s some fantastic make-up to buy on the day.”

The Skin Scan and Facial event will take place from 12-8pm on 10 October. A Skin Scan, carried out by a professional therapist, will tell how to best treat skin in order to achieve long-term, visible results.

Guests will receive a skin diagnosis which highlights under-lying issues that cannot be seen by the naked eye. The method uses a black ultra-violet light to simultaneously allow the therapist and the person having the treatment to see ‘beneath the skin’.

The treatment session costs £15 which can be redeemed against Pevonia skincare products on the day and everyone who books will receive 10% off their next Pevonia treatment.

Michelle said: “Skincare is so important for women of all ages so it’s really worthwhile to find out what your skin needs from a professional. The facial is fantastic and will leave your skin looking fresh, clear and radiant.”

The Make-Up event is taking place from 1pm-8pm on 23 October where a professional make-up artist from Jane Iredale will be on hand for makeovers and advice.

Women will be shown all the tricks of the trade for both natural and glamorous make-up with talks, practical sessions and access to various vouchers and offers throughout the day.

Michelle said: “Make-up application is a fine art. Done well it can really highlight a woman’s best features, compliment a style and disguise any imperfections. But done badly it can be a disaster.

“Many women don’t make the most of their assets and shy away from using a lot of make-up because they don’t feel confident. Trying and testing different ranges can be expensive and timely, which is why we wanted to offer practical and personal advise, which can be taken away and used.

“We are inviting women from across the region to come along and have a fun day with us, while learning some great tips for application, colour and products. We have one of the best make-up artists in the country to answer all your queries and recommend the best make-up for you.”

Again there is a £15 booking fee for the event but this can be redeemed against two or more Jane Iredale products purchased on the day.
